John Lonergan
Managing Member and Co-founder of MachVentures and MachLabs, has over 25 years of healthcare management experience and has invested in 10 medical device ventures. Mr. Lonergan was Managing General Partner of Bio-Star Private Equity Fund, LP (“Bio-Star”), which he co-founded in 2003. Bio-Star was an early stage investor in companies such as AorTx, Onset Medical, Guided Delivery Systems, Devax, Setagon and Triage Medical. Prior to Bio-Star, Mr. Lonergan co-founded and was CEO of CardioNow, a venture-backed company focused on the storage and communication and networks for hospitals, clinical labs and major medical device manufacturers for cardiology. CardioNow was sold to Heartlab in 2002, which was subsequently sold to Agfa Medical. Prior to founding CardioNow, Mr. Lonergan was a Director of Scimed Europe, a division of Boston Scientific, where he was responsible for European operations (other than manufacturing) of this interventional cardiology division, representing more than 2/3 of BSC’s sales in that region.
Prior to Boston, Mr. Lonergan was a Director for Europe at Baxter Laboratories’ Diagnostics Division, which subsequently became Dade Behring after a $700M leveraged buyout in 1994. Mr. Lonergan’s responsibilities included European Business Unit Manager, Region Manager for France and Benelux, and responsibility for Business Development and Transition for Dade Europe.
Mr. Lonergan is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Brown University, and a former McKinsey consultant.
